Château de Saumur is a historic castle‑turned‑museum perched on a hill overlooking the Loire in the town of Saumur, France. From February to December (closed 25 December and 1 January), visitors can explore its rich collection of decorative arts, tapestries, and equestrian artifacts from prehistoric times to the 20th century. The first floor displays decorative arts—including ceramics, sculptures, and paintings—while the second floor is devoted to an impressive horse‑related collection of saddles, harnesses, and anatomical studies. Outside, the expansive gardens offer a scenic view of the Loire Valley, and the belvedere provides panoramic vistas of the town. Entry costs €9.50 for adults, €7 for eligible reduced‑price visitors (students, seniors, etc.), and children under 7 enter free. A one‑year Muséo Pass is available for €12, granting unlimited access to six major sites in the Loire region. The museum welcomes school groups, history enthusiasts and art lovers alike.
