Le Cadre Noir
About
The Cadre Noir of Saumur, officially part of the Institut Français du Cheval et de l’Équitation (IFCE), is a world‑renowned equestrian academy that combines centuries of tradition with modern training techniques. Visitors can take guided tours of the historic riding hall and the famous Grand Manège, where riders perform awe‑inspiring “air‑above‑ground” displays and gala performances. The site offers both individual and group tours, with child‑friendly options and opportunities to learn about the equestrian heritage of France. Whether you are a horse enthusiast, a history buff, or simply looking for a unique cultural experience, the Cadre Noir provides a masterclass in grace, skill and tradition. The inauguration of the 2026 season opens from 9 February to 31 October, with guided tours available Monday afternoons, Tuesday‑Friday mornings and evenings, and Saturday early afternoons. Reserving a slot ahead of time is strongly advised due to high demand, especially during peak periods. The best times to visit are in spring and autumn when the weather is pleasant and crowds are lighter, allowing for a more relaxed and immersive experience.
