Amboise is unique in that it has the only inhabited island on the Loire River. The Blue Door is located on this island just across from the Chateau d'Amboise so it provides an incredible view of the river and castle. From the apartment you can listen to the Loire River rushing by and gaze at the chateau. You can be in the center of town with a pleasant 2-minute walk. And after a long day of sightseeing in the region, the Blue Door is the perfect place to unwind. La Porte Bleue is exceptional. The photos speak for themselves. Here are some close ups of the interior which show the updates. The house has two independent apartments complete with kitchen and baths. They are 65m2 in area. The ground floor is accessible by the blue door in front of the house. It has one bedroom and can accommodate 2-3 people. The second floor is the former attic which was fixed up in 2003. With two bedrooms it can accommodate 4 to 5 people. Access to the second floor is through the courtyard behind the house. The two apartments are nicely isolated from each other. With separate entrances, guests in the apartments do not bother each other. Parking is plentiful, free, and nearby. BOOKING AND PRICE : Prices shown hear are approximate because I use a grid of decreasing prices beginning with the second night. It can, therefore, be cheaper than what is indicated on the site. I don't require a minimum stay because that varies depending on the season and availability. I cannot tie up the rental units for a single night during open blocks but I can accept short reservations if they work with existing bookings.
