Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church
About
Located at Breitscheidplatz in central Berlin, the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church (Gedächtniskirche) blends a war‑damaged 71‑meter tower with a modern ceremonial space designed by Egon Eiermann. Visitors can explore the historic ruins, the newly built octagonal nave, the glass‑pane façade, and the memorial hall that hosts mosaics and the Nagelkreuz from Coventry. The church is free of charge, fully wheelchair‑accessible, and open daily from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Guided tours—both public and by group—last about an hour, start at 11:15 am and run every half hour on weekdays, with special evening and weekend sessions. There is no reservation needed for public tours; for larger groups organisers can book additional sections via the church office at 1 st Floor, Lietzenburger Str. 39. The site also hosts concerts, Bible discussions, and other cultural events; entry to most performances is free, except select concerts that require a ticket or donation.
