Mall of Berlin
About
The Mall of Berlin, also called the Leipziger Platz Quartier, is a modern shopping destination that opened on 25 September 2014 in the historic Mitte district of Berlin. It occupies the former site of the Wertheim department store, a centerpiece of the city’s 19th‑century retail boom, and spans two floors along with a basement and a roof level. The complex hosts around 110 stores, ranging from international fashion brands and accessories to electronics and gourmet food, and is anchored by one of Germany’s largest food courts situated on the second floor. Beyond retail, the mall is a cultural hub, featuring regular events, live music, and exhibitions. In 2022 the seven Buddy Bears were installed on the ground level, symbolising Berlin’s commitment to diversity and tolerance. The mall’s striking o‑shaped architecture, expansive atrium, and proximity to U‑ and S‑bahn stations make it an iconic landmark for both locals and visitors. Convenience is a key selling point: the Mall offers free Wi‑Fi, wheelchair access, tax‑free shopping zones, and a 1,000‑space car park. Connected by U2, S1, S2, S25, and several bus lines, it remains easily reachable by public transport, while a range of food outlets and retail concepts makes it a one‑stop destination for a full shopping and leisure experience.
