Schleusenkrug
About
The Schleusenkrug is a beloved Berlin beer garden and restaurant located in the iconic Tiergarten, right by the Spree river. With a relaxed atmosphere that blends classic German hospitality with contemporary comforts, it offers a full menu of hearty German dishes, a selection of vinos, spirits, and a wide range of beer options. Visitors can enjoy their meals and drinks either in the spacious indoor terrace, which feels like a cosy extension of the historic building, or outdoors under the open sky—perfect for sunny afternoons or evenings by the river. Open daily from 11 am to 6 pm, the venue serves fresh food starting at 11 am and closes the kitchen at 5 pm. The Biergarten is well equipped with both indoor seating for around 70 guests and an outdoor capacity of about 700 seats, making it ideal for individual diners, families, and larger groups. Reservations are requested by email to contact@schleusenkrug.de, especially for parties of eight or more, but many guests can still secure a table without prior booking during quieter periods. What sets the Schleusenkrug apart is its seamless blend of culinary delight and scenic charm. Guests relish traditional favorites like Schnitzel Wiener Art or vegan currywurst alongside freshly baked apple strudel. The venue’s welcoming interior and sunny terrace provide a convivial setting for leisurely lunches and festive celebrations, while the river view adds a touch of tranquility to any visit. Whether you’re a local looking for a relaxed bite or a tourist seeking authentic German beer garden experience, the Schleusenkrug offers a memorable, hearty encounter with Berlin’s culinary culture.
