Museum for mining and city history, reconstructed iron ore mine, historical library, city history, art exhibitons. Mining Museum and Mine Replica Weilburg was an important centre for ore mining. Machines original equipment and pictures document the mining activities of past times, particularly in the area around Weilburg. These include iron-ore, roofing slate, phosphorite and marble, as well as early clay-extraction. The replica of a mine gallery demonstrates digging, haulage plants and gallery and shaft construction on a length of 200 meters. The close encounter of operational machinery under ground and the atmosphere of the pit turn the visit into a memorable experience without risking the dangers of a real mine.
