About

The Heimatmuseum (literally translated "Home Museum") is located in 2 bordering trading houses (Neue Straße 12 und 14), which were originally built in the 18th century. The focus of the museum is the "east-frisian living culture" - the museum has an exhibition area of ~1000 m², on which the lives of people in and around Leer are presented: how the worked, lived and dressed. In addition the museum hopes to provide a comprehensive view into the history of the town of Leer, and its development. The museum also links the history of East Frisia to global events across history, using historical objects as a focus point.
