Senckenberg Natural History Museum (Naturmuseum Senckenberg)
About
The Senckenberg Naturmuseum Frankfurt is a world‑class destination that brings the history of life to vivid, tangible form. Located in a neo‑baroque building, it spans 10,000 square metres of exhibition space and showcases more than 40 million specimens across eight main themes: Dinosaurs, Birds, Reptiles, Mammals, Human Evolution, Messel Research, Invertebrates, and Insects. The museum’s highlight is the towering 18‑metre Diplodocus skeleton donated by the American Museum of Natural History, as well as the meticulously preserved Edmontosaurus mummy. Its Messel Research Hall features an unparalleled fossil record from the Eocene, including a well‑preserved horse and hoverfly, while the Lucy skeleton offers a window into human ancestry. Visitors can enjoy interactive displays, guided tours, and educational workshops. Small‑group guided tours are available for families and school groups, priced at €40 for up to five people and €50 for up to ten, with each tour lasting 50 minutes. The museum welcomes visitors daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed on public holidays and certain special days), and offers free admission for children under six years old and other exempt groups.
