Hausbrauerei Feierling
About
Mayor of Freiburg im Breisgau, the Hausbrauerei Feierling has been crafting beer for over a century. Founded in 1877 by Julius Feierling, the brewery's original site – the historic "Zur Insel" estate – gave rise to its celebrated "Inselhopf" beer, a light pale lager brewed from strictly organic ingredients. Today the modern Hausbrauerei sits on the Grünwälderstraße, where the current generation of family brewers preserves this heritage while offering visitors an immersive experience. Guests can stroll through the working brewery from Monday to Thursday until 5 p.m. and then enjoy the true beer‑garden atmosphere from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. on the Insel terrace. The brewery offers guided tours that cost €7 per person, complete with a pint of the house lager. Food is served in the attached gaststätte, with a seasonal menu that showcases local ingredients, while the beer garden provides a relaxed setting for groups during the warmer months. Whether you love discovering the art of brewing or simply want a place to dine and sip a refreshing lager, Feierling provides a friendly, family‑friendly environment. The historic taps, the playful atmosphere, and the emphasis on organic quality make it a favorite for visitors of all ages. The brewery is freely accessible for visitors during its opening hours, but attendees of the paid tours are required to book in advance.
