Founded as the first Schweinske in 1983, the restaurant at Barmbeker Markt was a model for all subsequent locations that followed across the Germany. It’s known for its rustic countertop and wall murals by artist Boris Sokolov. The chandeliers and other elements were added later, giving the decor a unique organic style all its own. The beer garden in front of the restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy a sunny hour in Barmbek — and the city enjoys a fair number of them.
