Speicherstadt Kaffee
About
Speicherstadt Kaffee is a Paris‑inspired café and specialty coffee roastery tucked into the historic Speicherstadt district of Hamburg, at Kehrwieder 5. The 2,200 m² space combines an in‑house roastery with a rustic‑elegant café front, where visitors can taste freshly roasted beans while watching the turn‑table roaster and fellow baristas in action. The café’s décor is warm and nostalgic, featuring oak‑panelled floors and large stone walls that echo the warehouse’s original architecture. Coffee lovers are treated to a unique five‑colour flavour system—red for berry‑intensities, orange for sweet fruit, brown for nutty and caramel notes, yellow for citrus, and green for herbal and spicy profiles—making it easy to find a roast that suits any palate. Beyond serving a menu of light breakfasts, bagels, croissants, salads, pies, and sweet waffles, Speicherstadt Kaffee promotes sustainability and fair trade through its direct partnership with Colombian growers and its participation in projects such as the Orang‑Utan and Honduras 18 Conejo initiatives. The café also offers a small “Fabrikladen” (factory shop) where guests can purchase beans, coffee accessories, honey, chocolate, and local spirits. The establishment is open daily from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, with special holiday hours announced ahead of time (e.g., closed on Christmas Day, 12:00‑7:00 pm on Christmas Eve, and 12:00‑7:00 pm on New Year’s Day). Admission is free, so it’s an ideal spot for families, couples, and solo travelers who want to sample high‑quality coffee in a historic setting while enjoying a relaxed atmosphere. Recommended visit time is about one hour, allowing plenty of time to savour a latte, explore the roastery, and pick up a coffee bag for home.
