Otto Schott (1851 - 1935) is considered the founder of modern glass science and pioneer of the special glass industry. In 1884, together with Ernst Abbe and Carl Zeiss, he founded the Glass Technology Laboratory Schott & Gen., today's SCHOTT AG. In the SCHOTT Villa in Jena, where Otto Schott once lived with his family, his life's work as well as the corporate and innovation history of the SCHOTT Group are presented in various exhibitions.
