About
The Westin Leipzig stands at 96.8 m, making it the second‑tallest building in the city. Originally built in 1981 as Hotel Merkur for the GDR’s Interhotel chain, it was renamed The Westin Leipzig in 2003 and today boasts 436 rooms across 27 floors. The hotel features a full‑service wellness area and a swimming pool located on the fourth floor, as well as a range of dining options that have earned critical acclaim—including the Michelin‑starred Falco restaurant (now closed) and the contemporary Shinto bar. Housed in a modernist tower designed by Kajima architects, the hotel blends historical significance with contemporary luxury and occupies a prime location within Leipzig’s city centre.
