About

The Bergsträßer Winzer eg was founded 1904 as „Starkenburger Winzerverein“ in the historical Kurmainzer Amtshof in Heppenheim. Today’s company grounds were developed in 1959 and were established in seven construction phases over the years, ultimately making us the biggest wine producer in Hessen. Today the winecellar and bottle storage can store over 7 million litres of wine. In the year of the 110th anniversary 2014, Bergstraßer Winzer eG opened its biggest accomplishment to the public: The Viniversum® Bergstraße. Our vine area of 264 hectares are being cultivated by our members on Hessische and Badische Bergstraße. 400 wine growing families are cultivating vines on the southern and western slopes of Odenwald: 45% Riesling, 18% Pinot Noir, 10% Pinot Gris, 7% Müller-Thurgau, 4% Red Riesling but also Pinot Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Silvaner, Kerner, Saint Laurent, Dornfelder, Frühburgunder, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
