Nymphenburg Palace
About
Nymphenburg Palace is a magnificent Baroque residence perched in Munich’s western district of Neuhausen‑Nymphenburg. Built for the Wittelsbach dynasty in 1664, it served as the summer retreat of Bavarian rulers and today offers a rich museum complex, the renowned Gallery of Beauties, and an elegant palace garden. The palace’s opulent interiors—frescoed halls, painted ceilings, and antique furnishings—are complemented by the densely wooded park, formal parterres, the Grand Cascade and surrounding lakes. Visitors can explore the Marstallmuseum, the Nymphenburg Porcelain Museum, guided Audio‑Tours (available in multiple languages), and free Wi‑Fi throughout the site. Children under 18 enter free of charge, while adult tickets cost 10 euros (reduced 9 euros). The palace is open daily: from 9 am to 6 pm between April 15 and October 15, and from 10 am to 4 pm from October 16 to March 31, closed on public holidays such as New Year’s Day, Shrove Tuesday, and Christmas Eve/Day/New Year. It can be visited online via the ticket shop or in person; no prior booking is required, though guided tours can be booked in advance.
