About

The Horst Janssen Museum is dedicated to the visual arts on paper. It is named after the great North German draughtsman, etcher, woodcutter, poster artist, illustrator, author and graphic artist Horst Janssen. The museum offers an exciting encounter with the work and personality of this idiosyncratic artist. The focus is on drawing as a universal means of human expression. In addition to the art of Horst Janssen, we and our guests are interested in the classical and contemporary trends in this genre. Furthermore, we will examine how, for example, digital tools can change drawing, what drawing can be all about or what individual understanding artists have of it.
