In 1870, the courageous young man Balthasar Ress, a former butcher founded the "Gasthof Ress" in Hattenheim in the Rheingau. Driven by his primal motivation to be a good host and to create fine wines and fine moments, he paved the way not only for a long gastronomic tradition and hospitality in the Rheingau, but also for today's VDP.Weingut Balthasar Ress. The host gene is in our blood - which is why we still follow this motivation with joy today. The Balthasar Ress winery, which has transformed itself over the years into an ecologically managed VDP winery, is still owned by the Ress family today, a good 150 years after it was founded. In 2010, Christian Ress took over the management, marking the start of the 5th generation of the family business. Our vision is to create the finest Rieslings and Pinot Noirs and to create unforgettable moments in the most beautiful places in the world!
