Kloster Eberbach
About
Kloster Eberbach is a stunning 12th‑century Cistercian monastery located in the heart of the Rheingau wine region. With 900 years of history, the site offers visitors a unique blend of medieval architecture, a majestic basilica, a richly furnished baroque‑style dining room, and an award‑winning wine cellar that has been used for production for nearly eight centuries. Guided tours walk the halls of the abbey, showcasing original furnishings, frescoes and the impressive arcade window by contemporary artist Thomas Bayrle. In addition to the tours, guests can explore the monastery’s vinothek, sample local Rieslings, enjoy a meal in the on‑site restaurant, or stay at the adjacent Hotel Kloster Eberbach. The sanctuary is open daily for visits – 11:00–18:00 from Monday to Friday and 10:00–18:00 on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as public holidays – and offers a range of cultural, religious and gastronomic experiences for families, history enthusiasts and wine lovers alike.
