It all began in 1950, when Vaggelis Kakarantzas opened a chop-house in the village of Koukli, Ioannina. Thanks to the fresh, local meat and vegetables, the authenticity of the recipes and the picturesque place, it became the "delicious secret" of the region. From 1975 on, his sons, Thanasis and Nikos, took the bit reins, continuing a successful tradition of local, honest, authentic food.
