The Restaurant Velani serves delicious Greek home-cooking with fresh and local ingredients. The family run restaurant let you enjoy your meal in a romantic setting with a stunning panoramic view over the Aposelemis lake. The Velani restaurant uses vegetables, fruit and herbs from its own gardens to prepare the famous healthy Mediterranean diet; our kitchen utilizes our home-grown produce as well as that of the local farms and surrounding villages. Try typically Greek dishes with extra virgin olive oil, Cretan wine made from ancient grape species, meat and cheese from the free-ranging sheep and goats of our neighbors, or honey from the local beekeeper. The Cook Manolis, who is also the owner, prepares the Cretan dishes with a personal touch with care for the local environment and its traditions. Every Sunday afternoon he heats up the outdoor oven by burning wood from the olive trees. The dishes slowly cook inside for hours making the food soft, juicy and melt-in-the-mouth. Oven dishes are served after 2pm. The Velani restaurant is open in winter and summer time every day to serve you breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
