Kastania Cave
About
Kastania Cave, located near the village of Kastania on the southern tip of the Peloponnese and about 11 km from Neapoli Voion, is one of Greece’s most celebrated limestone show caves. The 500‑metre guided tour winds through two levels of vividly coloured formations—stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone, and rare “waterfalls,” “curtains,” and “sheets” that resemble waxwork from the roof. Visitors are treated to enormous columns, octopus‑like, coral‑shaped speleothems, and mineral‑colored globular structures that showcase the region’s rich speleological heritage. A café sits outside the entrance and a historic Church of St. Andrew lies nearby, making the site a compelling destination for families, geology enthusiasts, and anyone seeking to experience Greece’s natural wonders.
