Arcturos Brown Bear Sanctuary
About
The Arcturos Brown Bear Sanctuary, located in the picturesque village of Nymfaio in Western Macedonia, Greece, is a haven for rescued Eurasian brown bears that cannot be released into the wild. Enclosed within a 12‑acre beech forest at an altitude of 1,350 metres, the sanctuary offers visitors a unique chance to observe bears in a natural setting while learning about conservation and wildlife protection. Guided tours run daily from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm (Wednesday closed), with additional special openings during the holiday period. In addition to the Bear Conservation Area, visitors can explore the Wolf & Lynx Conservation Area and the historic Bear Information Centre, which provides educational displays for all ages.
