About us Eklektik is a social cooperative of 6 members in Thessaloniki, Greece. Main goal is the promotion of equal and solidarity economy. Our cooperative operates a grocery store-cafe, where the products available are mainly produced by cooperatives, farmers' groups and collectives in Greece and abroad. As members of the cooperative we are fully equivalent since we participate with an equal share and we are equally emunerated according to our working time. All matters are discussed and decisions are made during our assemblies twice a month. Our goal The promotion of cooperative relations in every step of production as well as in the distribution of the products through the improvement of the existing structures and the creation of new is our main goal. It is our belief that cooperatives can be the foundations of a different economy that corresponds to the needs of our society and not the interests of big companies. Ensuring the equality between the members of a cooperative and direct democracy in making decisions are, in our opinion, the main condition for this new economy setting. We seek to contribute to the creation of a continuously expanding distribution network of products of cooperatives. The products The products in our grocery store are carefully chosen. They come mainly from cooperatives with healthy economic characteristics that function to the benefits of their members and contribute to the solution of problems in their area in order to show off their local products. Some of the products in Eklektik are: legumes, potatoes, onions, garlics, cheeses, wine, beers, coffees, tranditional sweets, detergents. At the same time a variety of the products is served in our cafe place. The prices are formed in order to be fair to the producers, approachable to the consumers and such that allows us to get paid decently and return any excess profits back to society.
