About
According to myth, Zeus was born in this remote cave on the slopes of Mount Ida in Crete. Even if you're not a fan of Greek mythology, you'll enjoy exploring this stalagmite and stalactite-filled cavern and taking in the stunning views of the surrounding valley at the top. The hike up to the cave is manageable, but steep; if you're with young kids, consider getting a donkey ride to the top. There's a fee to enter the cave, which is usually covered if you sign up for a day tour of the area. It often includes a stop at the cave and Lassithi Plateau, and even offers a 4x4 offroad tour option for the more adventurous.
