Every autumn since 1991, the old town of Xanthi — a small, traditional place in northeast Greece — hosts Xanthi’s Old Town Festival. It’s an opportunity for local and nationally famous artists to show off their paintings and photography exhibits, theatrical performances, and book fairs as well as dancing in the streets. The Old Town makes a fantastic backdrop for this experience with its narrow streets and old houses. Be sure to head to Xanthi at the beginning of September to take part in this memorable festival.
