Hungarian State Opera House - Magyar Allami Operahaz
About
The Hungarian State Opera House, located on Andrássy Avenue in central Budapest, is a neo‑Renaissance masterpiece designed by Miklós Ybl and opened in 1884. Its 1,261‑seat auditorium, regarded for its spectacular acoustics, is flanked by a marble staircase, a bronze chandelier and murals by Bertalan Székely and other Hungarian artists. From September to June each year the house stages opera, ballet, musical theatre and offers guided tours in six languages almost daily. The Opera House hosts international performers, the Hungarian National Ballet, and major cultural events such as the Operabál, and its official website provides online ticket sales and a 3D virtual tour.
