About
The Margaret Bridge is a 607.6‑metre, three‑way stone and steel bridge that spans the Danube, linking Buda, Pest, and Margaret Island. Built between 1872 and 1876 under the design of French engineer Ernest Goüin, it has endured wartime damage and undergone extensive restoration, with the most recent renovation completed in 2011. Today the bridge serves as a popular pedestrian route, offering panoramic vistas of the river and the city while linking visitors to the island’s gardens and recreational areas.
