Kaffi Ilmur
About
Nestled in one of Akureyri’s oldest houses, Kaffi Ilmur blends historic charm with modern comfort. Built in 1911‑16 as a saddler’s shop, the café was lovingly restored in 2011 and remains family‑run, preserving original walls, furnishings and artifacts that echo the town’s past. Patrons can enjoy a hearty breakfast every morning at 8 AM, a weekday lunch, or a relaxed weekend brunch buffet from 11 AM to 2:30 PM. The menu features Icelandic staples such as soups, salads, and traditional lamb, alongside freshly baked cakes and pastries. Complementing the food are coffee, tea, beer, wine and spirits. The cosy interior—highlighted by exposed timber beams, vintage décor, and original furniture—creates an inviting atmosphere that encourages visitors to relax, chat, or simply savour a meal while overlooking Akureyri’s central street.
