The restaurant at Hotel Varmahlíð is part of the local programme “Skagafjörður Food Chest”. That means we use mainly the best ingredients found in our food-producing region. Participants in the Food Chest program use primarily local ingredients in their cooking. These are either processed or produced in the Skagafjörður region. A few tasty examples include fresh salad from our neighbours in Laugarmýri, mozzarella cheese from the KS dairy cooperative, lightly salted cod heads from FISK in Sauðárkrókur and last but not least our lamb that has roamed the hills and mountains of Iceland ever since Viking settlers first brought sheep to the country in the 9th century. The restaurant at Hótel Varmahlíð is open for everyone all evenings during summer season. For groups, both small and big we are open all year by orders.
