Gljasteinn offers four huts and cabins for rent around the Gullfoss waterfall and the Geysir hot spring area, all the way up to Kjolur, the ancient path across the Icelandic highland. The cabins are ideal for groups of all shapes and sizes for any kind of travelling in the Icelandic highlands. The Gislaskali hut is situated in a small highland oasis right beside the source of the river Svarta. It offers the possibility of a beautiful hike along the river to the cabin Arbudir 20 km to the south. There are several other hiking options in the area, both to historical places and natural attractions. This hut is a typical local highland retreat with added luxury and a bright and new interior. The facility is excellent with an all inclusive kitchen, two sitting rooms, toilets and a hot shower. The sleeping area is big and accomodates 45-50 sleeping bag placements in 6 rooms. Camping is allowed and for an extra fee, campers can use the dining ad kitchen facilities inside. The cabin has electricity for light and heating. Gislaskali offers first rate facilities for tourists travelling across the Highlands. Out of all the sleeping arrangements on the Kjolur route Gislaskali is by far one of the best.
