Ballycommane House & Garden - a charming Irish country home on the Wild Atlantic Way. Tucked away in the green rolling hills of West Cork and surrounded by mature gardens, Ballycommane House is most inviting for relaxation. The sweeping views from the house and its well-tended gardens present the Irish landscape like in a nutshell: sheep grazing on green pastures, cultivated farmland, dense forests and wild open hills. Dotted with old Irish stone houses, the surrounding countryside exudes an intriguing Old World charm. Located on the famous Wild Atlantic Way, this accomodation is the ideal base for touring or walking Mizen Head, the Sheep's Head and Beara peninsula. There are lovely sandy beaches nearby, most inviting for a swim during the summertime. The hosts, though not Irish, like to follow the Irish tradition of a home from home culture to ensure a pleasant and enjoyable stay for all guests. The beautifully landscaped gardens with their subtropical vegetation and outdoor seating areas are most inviting for relaxation and contemplation. Guests are more than welcome to make use of it. This place provides the kind of tranquil environment so much sought after in today's hectic times, to just relax and unwind. Ballycommane House has been tastefully refurbished over the years to meet modern living standards yet has kept its rustic charm. Breakfast is taken in the cosy sitting room. Here, guests may also sit and relax around the fireplace, using free coffee and tea making facilities. There are 4 bedrooms, all en-suite: 3 double and one twin. Throughout the year, the extensive gardens surrounding Ballycommane House on 3.5 acres portray an array of colour and feature an abundance of flowers as well as a huge variety of mature shrubs and trees. Bathed by the warm waters of the Gulf stream, exotic plants from all over the world thrive in this mild climate. The gardens are open to guests any time, with benches and outdoor seating areas to sit down, relax and enjoy. On the grounds, there is an ancient archaeological site of great importance. Dating back to the Bronze Age, it consists of a boulder-burial and a pair of standing stones. Millennia ago, these megalithic monuments were used as burial places and for astronomical observations.
