King William III was not the most popular British king in Catholic Ireland. despite this his monument has stood in Boyle since 1754. it commemorates the victory of William of Orange at Boyle in 1689. Originally there was a lead statue (now lost). In the 19th cent. Orange Order parades terminated at the monument.
