About

Kinsale has been home to a community of Carmelite Friars since 1334. The Friary and its associated Church, situated in tranquil and well-maintained gardens, enjoy panoramic views of the town and harbour. Since their arrival in Kinsale, successive communities of friars have tended to the pastoral needs of many people, drawing on the Carmelite charism of prayer, community, and service and continuing to offer a place of welcome, refreshment, prayer, and hospitality. We welcome people to come and stay in our Friary Guesthouse, to spend some quiet time away, for rest, reflection, reading, and renewal and to join in the rhythm of the Friary. The warm and comfortable bedrooms are ensuite and elevator-accessible, wholesome meals are available, and guests have access to a library, laundry facilities, and a small kitchen for use during their stay. A small, private oratory is also located on the first floor of the guesthouse for personal prayer and reflection. The Friary gardens are also open to guests to spend in quiet contemplation. Beyond the historic medieval town of Kinsale and its beautiful harbour, there are ample opportunities for walking treks, enjoying the sea air and the natural beauty of the area. #kinsale #corkireland #retreat
