Originally founded in 1953 and opened to the public in 2000, the museum showcases an extraordinary collection of manuscripts, rare books, miniature paintings and decorative objects from Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Visitors explore two principal galleries – the Sacred Traditions Gallery and the Arts of the Book Gallery – where illuminated manuscripts, intricate Qur’an manuscripts, Persian miniatures and rare East‑Asian artefacts coexist.
