Dublin Writers Museum
About
Dublin Writers Museum, situated at 18 Parnell Square in Dublin’s vibrant Georgian Quarter, opened in November 1991 as a tribute to Ireland’s rich literary heritage. The museum housed an impressive collection of manuscripts, first editions, portraits, and personal effects belonging to literary giants such as James Joyce, W.B. Yeats, Oscar Wilde, Bram Stoker, Samuel Beckett, and many more. Highlights included Joyce’s typewriter, Stoker’s original manuscript of "Dracula," and a life‑size replica of the Book of Kells. In addition to the artifacts, the museum offered a café, a bookshop, and a lecture room, creating a vibrant cultural hub for readers and scholars alike. Though the museum permanently closed in 2022 amid the COVID‑19 pandemic, its exhibits and archives remain under the stewardship of Fáilte Ireland, ensuring that Ireland’s literary legacy continues to inspire future generations.
