About
Farmleigh House and Estate is a magnificent Edwardian residence perched above the River Liffey, northwest of Dublin’s Phoenix Park. Originally built in the mid‑18th century, the house was extensively remodelled in the 1880s, gaining a third floor and a grand ballroom. Today it serves as the Irish state guest house, welcoming heads of state and dignitaries. The surrounding 78‑acre estate boasts lush gardens, a walled greenhouse, a boating pond and rare native Kerry cattle, making it one of Dublin’s most celebrated green spaces. Visitors can explore the historic house (tours by appointment), stroll the manicured lawns, and enjoy seasonal events such as markets and concerts hosted on the grounds.
