About

Samuel Beckett Bridge, a striking cable‑stayed swing bridge spanning the River Liffey in Dublin, has become an icon of modern Irish engineering and an eye‑catching landmark in the city’s revitalised Docklands district. Designed by world‑famous architect Santiago Calatrava, the bridge opened to pedestrians on 10 December 2009 and to road traffic a month later, replacing the old wooden ferry crossing that had stood for 175 years.
