The Brian Boru
About
The Brian Boru has been a public house for over 200 years with the present building dating from the 1850s. We are conveniently located close to Glasnevin Cemetery, Croke park and the Botanical gardens However the connection with Brian Boru - High King of Ireland - goes back nearly 1000 years as it was here that his army camped prior to the Battle of Clontarf, fought on Good Friday in 1014. For many years the Pub has long been a landmark in Glasnevin for many years and has become famous as a venue for meals and refreshment following funerals in the nearby Glasnevin Cemetery ever since The Brian Boru was mentioned in Ulysses as Joyce's party of mourners pass by on their way to the Cemetery. We are well known for our excellent food and a wide range of menus and delicious meals. We also have a room available to hire The pub was also renowned for its special "Powers White Label" Whiskey which we bonded and blended to our own recipe and served from the wood.
