About

Katie's Claddagh cottage is Galway's newest tourist attraction where guests can come and see how the Claddagh people lived over a century ago! Guests can enjoy a cup of tea/coffee and beautiful homemade treats by the fireside our out in the gardens and marvel at the craftsmanship of this thatched cottage full of historic artefacts. The Claddagh Arts Centre is situated behind the cottage and sells guaranteed Irish products from the bog oak pieces, stone, wood and glass to the clothing, antiques and headstones. All of the products are unique, for example the only lanterns made from Connemara marble are for sale and some of the bog oak pieces date back 7,000 years. Giftware includes branded cups, candles, clothing, painted plates, photographs of old Galway and paintings. They also offers a garden design and construction service tailored to the customer's needs as well as creating unique pieces suiting the customer's brief. It has an extensive network of craftspeople so if there is something specific that is not available in the shop it is likely that it can be sourced or done on commission for the customer. Customers are encouraged to come and have a chat and learn a little about Galway. The Claddagh Arts Centre is also selling Claddagh rings in the Claddagh for the first time ever! For tourists or those visiting from overseas there is a shipping service available. The Claddagh Arts Centre is also making the centre and cottage available for events, especially charitable events. The centre is open Monday to Friday from 10-7pm and Saturday 10-5pm but may also be contacted by phone/face book/twitter/email after hours. The site has public toilets and is completely wheelchair accessible.
