About

This pair of bronze sculptures celebrates the marriage of Strongbow to Aoife MacMurrough, an arranged wedding that occurred in 1170. Aoife’s father, Dermot MacMurrough (Diarmuid Mac Murchada in Irish) solicited help from Strongbow to regain his lands in Leinster. MacMurchada is now known as Diarmait na nGall (Irish for "Diarmait of the Foreigners"). Sculptures are by Eithne Ring and Liam Lavery.
