About

The “Trame del Mediterraneo” Museum in Gibellina represents an original interpretation of the Mediterranean cultural history. Creative contributions from the Middle East arrived in Spain and then in France through North Africa. At the same time, they left traces in Sicily (Italy) in both the visual arts and the material culture, enriched over time by the imagination of individuals and from the traces of a collective daily living. The Museum, founded in 1996 by Ludovico Corrao, is the result of years of research and purchases, and of meetings, debates, studies and seminars sponsored by the Orestiadi Foundation. It expresses an underlying idea, whose strength lies in its transnational and interdisciplinary character.
