About

Museum of sacred art and of the territory founded and managed by the San Giacomo di Lu Cultural Association with the aim of preserving the local historical memory for future generations. Opened to the public in 2008, is part of the complex of the seventeenth-century church of San Giacomo. It preserves some of the most significant testimonies of the history of Lu and its territory. Valuable works including the canvas of "I Canonici di Lu" by Guala, an excellent example of an Italian eighteenth-century group portrait, paintings by Luigi Onetti, landscape painter, portraitist and exponent of Piedmontese social realism. In addition, paintings by the painter Orsola Maddalena Caccia, one of the "ladies" of the Italian Baroque, and by the workshop of her father Guglielmo, wooden sculptures, goldsmith's art, sacred vestments, reliquaries and mementos of Luese life. More than a hundred artefacts dating from the 15th to the 20th century from ecclesiastical and private buildings in the city.
