It has been finely restored, but it preserves the architectonic features of an historic house. You will live an amazing and unforgettable experience during your sojourn in La Cattedrale B&B. The refinement of its furniture and the design are simply fascinating. You will find the tradition of the Apulian gastronomy in the delicacies of your delicious homemade breakfast. Each of the two mini-flat is provided with mod cons so you can enjoy your own privacy (bathroom with shower, hair dryer, safe, balcony, led tv, autonomous heating, Internet Wi-Fi access, kitchen area in common). If you want, there is also the opportunity to add a third and a forth bed. It won't be difficult to find a place to park your car near the building. What will characterize your sojourn in our B&B will be certainly the beautiful position in which the B&B is located: It stands at the foot of the Cathedral, which represents the flagship of the town. It is considered as one of the most important examples of the Apulian Romanic style. The B&B stands just a few metres from the central avenues of Corso Antonio Jatta and Corso Cavour. From there you will enter in the picturesque alleys of the old town. Walking through these alleys you can find Grotta di San Cleto ,Saint Cletus' cave. It was a Roman cistern excavated in the stone and it is famous because it was the shelter for the very first Christian groups of Ruvo. You can also visit the National Archaeological Museum in which are conserved over 2000 vases including the Vaso di Talos (Talos vase), a world masterpiece of the Greek art of ceramic decoration. You can't miss the chance to visit the Torre dell'Orologio, the Clock Tower. It was built in 1604 and on its base there is an inscription that commemorates the splendour of the town during the Roman Age. This is not all as there are also many other churches, squares, historical buildings which are worth visiting, or trattorias and pubs where you can taste local food. These things will certainly make your sojourn in Ruvo even more pleasant. As the B&B overlooks on the narrow road of Via Cattedrale you'll have the chance to admire the Settimana santa, Holy Week processions comfortably from the balconies of your mini-flat. You'll be so close the passing statues that it will seem to you almost to brush them. The Holy Week rites are included in the national ethnographic heritage. These rites represent the most important event for the town. In the night of Holy Wednesday you can see the spellbinding processions of Otto Santi, the Eight Saints. On Good Friday there is the mournful Processione dei Misteri, Procession of Mysteries, with the succession of eight wooden statues : Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, the flagellation of Christ, Jesus with crown of thorns, the Calvary scene, Crucified Christ, Dead Christ, Mourning Virgin Mary, and the Holy Wood, that is a piece of the relic of the Holy Cross. In conclusion, on the Easter Eve, there is the procession of the Pietà statue which is directly inspired to the famous Michelangelo's sculpture. Particularly interesting and remarkable is also the tradition of "Quarantana". It is a puppet with the aspect of an old, pallid, slouchy and black-dressed woman which is hung in some points of the town starting from the Ash Wednesday. According to the tradition the Quarantana is Carnival's wife and it symbolizes the Lent self-denial. On Easter day, during the procession of Gesù Risorto, Resurrected Christ, there is the rite-show of the puppet burst. Lots of people go there to see it. In addition to this, La Cattedrale B&B is the ideal "rest stop" to have one-day excursions to bordering touristic attractions such as Castel del Monte or towns such as Trani, Bisceglie, Giovinazzo, Molfetta and Bari which are distant just few kilometers from Ruvo. It will be also easy to arrive to renowned towns such as Polignano a Mare, Ostuni, CastellanaGrotte, Alberobello and Matera. You can reach all these places by your car within no more than an hour.
