The town is known for the seventeen mummies kept in the crypt of the Capuchin convent [5], the subject of studies by an international research team ("Sicilian mummies project") [6], as well as for being chosen as a set of some great success, like the award-winning The Godfather of Francis Ford Coppola (1972). Savoca is part of the tourist district of Valle d'Agrò and is also a member of the union of the municipalities of the Ionian Valleys of the Peloritani. Events Festivals, musical and theatrical events are the cult of the Savocese summer village.
