This tiny hole-in-the-wall is a tidy hole-in-the-wall situated along the seawall main road in downtown Mola di Bari, Italy. We literally stumbled upon it many years ago, due to the long line of customers streaming out the door. As the sign reads, Il Galeone "specializes in grilled meats to go". The owner, who in his youth worked the cruise ship circuit in Miami, speaks English well and will tell you he offers two types of grilled meat sandwiches. One with meat and one with meat and organ meats. Both are delicious! It is a single person operation, and large skewers of sizzling meats are roasting over the open flame,just a few inches from where you order and pay... while other skewers are toasting large round rolls. Cold drinks are also sold here. Tables and chairs are set up outside, for those who want to stay and enjoy their tasty, meaty gems. We make a special drive to Mola di Bari to eat at Il Galeone whenever we are staying on the Adriatic side of Italy. Spring thru Autmun lunch and dinner hours...winter has dinner hours only.
