Originally inaugurated in 1903 as Petri, it was rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1991 and reopened in 2009, retaining its stunning neoclassical façade and state‑of‑the‑art interior. The theatre seats roughly 1,482 people and has hosted some of the world’s most celebrated opera and ballet companies, from Luciano Pavarotti and Plácido Domingo to the Paris Opera Ballet.
