Kalterer See
About
Kaltern Lake, locally known as Lago di Caldaro or Kalterer See, is a picturesque alpine lake in South Tyrol, Italy. Situated at 216 m above sea level, the 1.4 km² body of water is surrounded by lush woods and dramatic mountain backdrops. The lake’s striking clear waters and surrounding vineyards make it a year‑round destination for both locals and tourists. In winter the area becomes a quiet retreat with skiing nearby, while spring and summer bring warm temperatures and plenty of water‑based activities such as swimming, paddle‑boarding and boat rentals. Autumn sees the lake’s blue hues deepen against a backdrop of gold‑tinted foliage, and even in the coldest months cozy cafés and a lively market create a festive atmosphere.
