About

Giardino Botanico Alpinia is a 4‑hectare alpine botanical garden perched at 800 metres above lake level in the small hamlet of Alpino, Stresa, on the eastern shore of Lake Maggiore. It offers a quiet sanctuary where visitors can wander among more than 700 alpine species—including rare gentian and diverse genera from the Caucasus, China, and Japan—while enjoying sweeping views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The garden’s layout follows a circular walking path that takes guests through forested zones, colourful flower beds, and a natural spring that feeds directly from Mottarone’s summit, providing a refreshing pause during warmer months. The iconic Belvedere pavilion, a rustic shelter with comfortable benches, invites visitors to relax and take in the panoramic scenery. Open from 3 April to 30 November, the garden welcomes visitors daily from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm. Admission is modest, with adult tickets at €5.00 and reduced rates of €4.50 for children aged 4–12 or groups over 15 people, and an optional season pass is available. The venue is family‑friendly, suitable for nature lovers, botanical enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a peaceful stroll in a scenic setting.
