The M.A.S.S. - Museo Antichi Strumenti di Scrittura (Museum of Ancient Writing Instruments) houses more than 10,000 specimens. Fountain pens from all over the world have been lovingly preserved and cared for for over a century. The museum, inaugurated in 2022, is located inside the 'Le Ciminiere' museum centre in Catania. The Panebianco Collection is exhibited in an area of 350 square metres with 46 display cases. In the centre of the main hall are desks and armchairs for a total of 36 seats for the writing workshop. This is the first writing workshop in Italy inside a museum reserved for schoolchildren and those who request it. Ergonomic/educational fountain pens, paper, inks, notes and other items are provided by the museum management. Visitors are reserved a 'Locus Scripturae' where they can give vent to their emotions with contemporary Italian, American, German, French and Japanese fountain pens provided by the museum management. The M.A.S.S. is open daily from 9.30/17.30.
